What is LeakStopp?
LeakStopp is a utility from Virtuity, the team behind BackStopp. It protects your USB ports from unauthorised USB keys and data leakage.
Why do we need LeakStopp?
The threat of data leakage is both internal and external. Disgruntled employees may use a USB device to capture data from their desktop PC. Data thieves may use a USB device to capture data from an unattended terminal. Any device with an unprotected USB port is at risk from data theft.
Why is LeakStopp Personal free?
This release of LeakStopp Personal is free as we believe that protecting your USB ports is a service that everyone should have. This isn’t the only version of LeakStopp though, we have exciting plans in the future integrating both BackStopp and LeakStopp, providing a full data security solution. Future versions will cover more than securing just USB devices.
I keep getting notification balloons from LeakStopp, what are these?
These messages are part of LeakStopp Personal, our free version of LeakStopp. To turn them off simply right click on the LeakStopp USB icon in the system tray and select "Disable notification balloon".
Is LeakStopp configurable?
LeakStopp comes with a configurator that allows you to configure how the application behaves.
What is BackStopp?
BackStopp is our flagship data protection tool that will wipe sensitive data from a device in the event of it being lost or stolen. In the future we plan on integrating BackStopp and LeakStopp further, completing the family of data protection tools.
